AI citation gap analysis

Find the questions where competitors get cited and you don't.

A citation gap is a buyer question where an AI engine names or cites a competitor and leaves you out. Share-of-voice scores tell you that you are behind; a gap tells you exactly where, on which engine, and against whom.

GetCited runs your buyer questions on a schedule across up to 10 AI engines, Google and YouTube, and lines your brand up against every tracked competitor, question by question. Because AI answers change between runs, gaps are measured across repeated runs, so one lucky answer does not count as a win.

For each gap you see which pages and sources the engine cites for the competitor: their own page, a comparison article, a review site, a Reddit thread or a video. That source tells you the fix, and each gap can become a task or a content brief.

Reading the comparison

Three kinds of question.

They're cited, you're not

The gaps to close first. AI has found a reason to prefer them and you are absent from the answer.

You're both cited

You are in the answer but sharing it. Stronger sources and clearer pages can make you the one AI leads with.

You're cited, they're not

The answers to defend. Watch these as competitors invest in AI visibility.

Questions

Common questions

What is AI citation gap analysis?
AI citation gap analysis compares, question by question, which brands AI engines name and cite when buyers ask about your category. A gap is a question where a competitor is named or cited and you are not. Because AI answers vary between runs, GetCited measures how often each brand appears across repeated runs rather than relying on a single check.
Which tool shows where competitors are cited in AI answers but I'm not?
GetCited's competitor intelligence does this. It runs your buyer questions across up to 10 AI engines, Google and YouTube, then lines your brand up against each tracked competitor for every question, so you can see the exact questions where they are named and you are left out, and which sources the engines cite for them.
How do I analyze citation gaps against competitors?
Start with the questions buyers ask in your category, run them repeatedly across the AI engines that matter to you, and record who is named and which pages are cited. Rank the gaps by how valuable the question is and how consistently the competitor wins it, then look at the cited sources to decide the fix: a page, a review, a video or a third-party mention. GetCited automates each of these steps.
Does it work like an AI competitor gap analysis agent?
Yes, in the sense that it runs without you checking by hand. Tracked questions run on a schedule, new gaps are surfaced as they appear, and each gap can become a task or a content brief. You decide which fixes to ship.
What does the 12-channel scan cover?
Website teardown, Instagram, YouTube, X (Twitter), Facebook, Meta Ads, Google Ads, Reddit sentiment, SEO scorecard, Google Trends (web), YouTube trends and news coverage. Each channel gets its own AI summary and verdict.
How long does a scan take?
All 12 channels run in parallel, so a full scan finishes in minutes. Completed reports are saved, so going back to one loads straight away.
Can I track multiple competitors?
Yes. Each competitor gets its own tab, so you can switch between reports and compare findings across your competitive set.
Is there a monthly limit on scans?
Each plan includes a set number of competitor scans per calendar month, resetting on the first. If a recent scan exists, you can review it without using more quota.
Does it show changes between scans?
Yes. A re-scan highlights what changed since the last one: new ad creatives, shifts in posting strategy, SEO changes and new press coverage. The executive summary calls out the most important ones.
